The Lung Yeuk Tau 龍躍頭 Heritage Trail in Fanling is one of the great walks in Hong Kong. Alternatively known as Lung Ku Tau or Lung Ling (Dragon Mountain), LYTHT is one of two Heritage Trails designed to promote the rural villages on the Northern edge of the New Territories. The trail is designed to weave together the "5 Wai's" (or walled villages) and "6 Tsuen's" (un-walled villages) of the Tang Clan. The Tangs are one of the largest of the indigenous ethnic clans from what is now Hong Kong (more on that later).
In addition to the Wais, we'll see ancestral halls, a beautiful Tin Hau Temple, and the original Hakka Lutheran Church Tsung Kyam Church / Shung Him in Hakka.
The course is mostly flat. We'll end closest to Fanling Station. Why not spend a few hours on a Saturday morning to view these traditional villages as we head into the Chinese New Year.
